NET Web DeskShillong, August 7: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Stone and Sand Miners on Thursday met Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, seeking an early resolution of pending issues related to mining activities in the state. Kurkalang said no final decision was taken during the meeting as the Centre has sought clarifications on the state government’s proposal. He added that the government is currently examining and responding to the queries raised by the Centre. Stone and Sand Traders’ Association adviser Moslander Marngar said the Chief Minister assured the mining stakeholders of another meeting before August 15 to discuss the matter further. The mining community has been seeking permission for lawful extraction of stone and sand for self-use and local requirements while restricting commercial transportation outside Meghalaya, Marngar said.
