William Orbit, the Grammy-winning British electronic music producer who helped guide Madonna’s Ray of Light and Blur’s 13, has died at the age of 69. The producer’s death was announced Friday on his social media account, which noted that Orbit, whose real name was William Wainwright, died July 23 at his home. “It is with profound sadness that the family and friends of William Orbit announce that William passed away at home on 23rd July 2026,” the statement read. Orbit’s work with Madonna continued with the Austin Powers hit “Beautiful Stranger” and a trio of tracks on her 2000 album Music. A dozen years later, Madonna and Orbit reunited for a handful of songs on her 2012 album MDNA, including singles “Gang Bang” and “Masterpiece.”
