LightSpy, a spyware platform first identified years ago, has reportedly expanded into a broader commercial surveillance operation targeting victims in 13 countries and a wider range of devices, including routers.
TechCrunch reports that researchers at Arctic Wolf found LightSpy activity beyond mainland China, including across Europe and the United States.
Arctic Wolf reportedly identified at least 117 servers tied to LightSpy infrastructure and said some compromised routers were associated with NATO member countries.
Once commercial spyware spreads, the victim category expands.
Governments, telecoms, civil-society organisations, banks and political groups across the continent rely on imported devices, routers and cloud services.
