M Group has been awarded a £110M contract by ScottishPower to carry out major overhead line upgrades on a key transmission route between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
M Group, an engineering and construction firm, will deliver the upgrades across central and southern Scotland.
The upgrade comes amid wider efforts by Britain’s electricity network operators to expand transmission and distribution capacity to cope with increasing renewable generation and electric vehicle uptake.
M Group overhead lines managing director David Maddocls said: “We’re delighted to play a central role in delivering this crucial upgrade to one of Scotland’s most important electricity corridors.
“We’re committed to maximising the opportunities for suppliers up and down the country, modernising the transmission network, while unlocking growth and supporting more highly skilled, high-quality jobs.”
