New statistics show that the area’s police were subjected to assaults on a weekly basis in 2025 – with staff being injured on at least 15 occasions. Councillor David Wilson, who heads Inverclyde Council’s police and fire scrutiny panel, told the Telegraph that police officers were being assaulted in the line of duty ‘all too often’.
