A 19-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on Tuesday, August 4, on suspicion of fraud by false representation. An 18-year-old man, also from Birmingham, was arrested on the same day on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud. Police said the victim was contacted by offenders posing as National Crime Agency officers and persuaded to hand over bank cards and provide access to her mobile phone. The cards were then allegedly used to make unauthorised purchases, cash withdrawals and online transactions. Courier fraud is a scam in which criminals pose as trusted organisations, such as banks or police, to persuade victims to hand over money, bank cards or other valuables.
