A commemorative service marking VJ Day will take place at Clacton war memorial on August 15, at 11am. VJ Day, or Victory over Japan Day, marks the end of the Second World War and recognises the service and sacrifices made by those who fought in the Far East. Service - The war memorial in Clacton (Image: Tendring Council)She said: “VJ Day is an important moment for communities across Tendring to pause, reflect and remember the service and sacrifice of those who helped bring the Second World War to an end. “VJ Day is a chance to recognise that service properly, to stand alongside our veterans and service families, and to make sure the sacrifices made in the Far East are never overlooked.” The service will take place at the war memorial in the Memorial Gardens on Marine Parade West.
