The incident occurred on Mill Road in Pontnewynydd at around 7.15pm, and Gwent Police, including armed officers and the National Police Air Service, responded to reports of violent disorder involving a group of men. Four men have been arrested in connection with the incident, and two are currently in police custody. Paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service also attended the scene, and three men were taken to hospital for treatment. Det Chief Supt Anne-Marie Salwey said: "Violence in any form is completely unacceptable and anyone who is found to be involved in this disorder will be dealt as we will not accept this behaviour in our communities." The road remains closed between Mill Road and Hospital Road in both directions.
