The partnership between the University of South Wales and Newport County AFC is already giving students practical experience through placements and internships across a range of disciplines, including media, physiotherapy, football analysis, and strength and conditioning.
Students are working directly with the club through the scheme, with further opportunities expected to open up during the academic year.
Ben Gast, head of coaching at Newport County and a USW graduate, said the programme helps students access "opportunities to be involved in meaningful projects."
Mr Gast has studied at USW at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and has since worked for Swansea City and Bristol City, before joining Newport County.
Rob Griffiths, director of sport at USW, said: "We are delighted to seal this partnership with Newport County AFC.
