The Victorian-era pub, which dates to around 1861, was later confirmed as closed by the Marlow Chamber of Commerce.

He said the pub was "a real local community hub" and that there had been "a really strong community of people" who regularly visited.
While no explanation has been given for either the closure or reopening, the bar manager suggested the episode should serve as a reminder of the importance of supporting local pubs.
Given the reaction from customers when the Prince of Wales appeared to shut its doors, many regulars will simply be pleased that one of Marlow's best-known community venues is serving pints once again.
