BCP Council is urging residents and visitors to look out for rare and spectacular birds of prey as part of its nature campaign BCP – the UK’s wild urban coast. Other raptors that may be spotted include breeding ospreys around Poole Harbour and peregrine falcons patrolling rooftops in Bournemouth and Poole town centres. Ospreys have returned to Poole Harbour due to the multi-year reintroduction and translocation programme launched in 2017 by Birds of Poole Harbour and the Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation. Birds of Poole Harbour (BOPH) runs regular cruises to spot ospreys and other birdlife, operating alongside other entities to support nature recovery.
