Switzerland will struggle to meet its 2030 climate target, Environment Minister Albert Rösti admitted, citing budget constraints. Switzerland has pledged to halve its 1990 greenhouse gas emission levels by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050. "I don't think we can say just yet that we will miss the 2050 target," Rösti told Le Temps newspaper. AdvertisementSwitzerland's focus had primarily been on reducing CO2 emissions, while more recent measures had focused on adapting to the consequences of global warming. "We also have to be realistic: Switzerland accounts for only one-thousandth of global CO2 emissions," Rösti added.
