Between August 9 and 11, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at most places across Jammu and Kashmir. The department has specifically warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few districts of the Jammu division, while brief intense heavy showers are likely at some places in the Kashmir division. The MeT has also forecast light rain and thundershowers at many places from August 12 to 17, with brief intense showers possible at a few locations. “Torrential rain and brief intense heavy showers may generate flashfloods and landslides at vulnerable places and cause water logging in low lying areas,” the MeT said. Authorities have also been asked to remain alert and closely monitor vulnerable areas to deal with any weather-related incidents, the department said.
