Nadine Jean Baptiste, 59, of Warwick, pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to conspiracy and SNAP benefit fraud after prosecutors said she exploited her access to the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) system.
Federal prosecutors said EBT cards containing more than $300,000 in SNAP benefits were improperly accessed through the scheme.
Authorities allege Jean Baptiste and her daughter then used the stolen benefits to buy groceries and other personal items.
Many of the victims were especially vulnerable, including juveniles, homeless individuals and people who were incarcerated when their accounts were accessed.
Investigators traced the activity back to Jean Baptiste, who was arrested in 2024.
