Senior police officials confirmed yesterday that the charges had been laid and that the pair were expected to appear in court. Ruiz, of Quarry Road, Diego Martin, was stabbed multiple times in the back, head, face, chest and hand on July 29. Police said that during the altercation, which unfolded in front of a relative who had accompanied her, Ruiz was attacked and stabbed before the couple fled the scene. Ruiz’s relatives yesterday expressed relief after learning that the murder charges had been laid.
