The Shelby County Traffic Safety Partnership is planning on an enforcement effort aimed at drivers who are ignoring school bus stop arms. The expanded patrols looking for school bus stop-arm violations are going to start Monday. They are funded by grants through the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and the Shelby County Drug Free Coalition. Passing a school bus that has its stop-arm deployed and lights on is illegal as well as dangerous, the Shelby County Sherriff’s Department says. They say there is never an excuse to bypass a stopped school bus.
