The larger issue is not one MLA, one employee or one political party. Women’s dignity cannot be invoked only against political opponents or exaggerated for partisan gain. A society’s commitment to women’s dignity is tested when it scrutinizes those with whom it shares political, social or communal loyalties. Respect for women is not the monopoly of any party.
