Bourbonnais patrolman Thomas Martin was sworn in as the newest officer for the Bourbonnais Police Department during Monday’s village board meeting. The 36-year-old Martin joins the Bourbonnais police force after 10 years as an officer with the city of Kankakee. “He’s highly recommended,” Bourbonnais Police Chief Dave Morefield said. Morefield said he expects the department to make another hire before the end of the month. An additional hire should take place shortly thereafter, bringing the force up to its full capacity of 29.
