The city of Lockport is once again hosting its annual Fire Fest on Saturday commemorating the Great Lockport Fire of 1895. The festival will be held downtown at 10th and State streets. It will feature local food and art vendors, live music, and educational exhibits about the fire that destroyed portions of the downtown area more than 130 years ago, and how it shaped the rebuilding of the modern city. Lockport residents Diana and Steve Johnson read about The Great Lockport Fire during Fire Fest in Lockport on Aug. 10, 2024. Fire Fest is in its third year and is jointly hosted by the city of Lockport, Main Street Lockport, Visit Lockport, the Lockport Women’s Club, the Lockport Township Fire Protection District and the Lockport Area Genealogical and Historical Society.
