During a visit to Barry as part of his summer tour, Welsh Labour leader Ken Skates MS joined councillors for door-knocking in the Baruc ward, including Vale of Glamorgan Council leader councillor Lis Burnett.
"Our school support staff deserve fair pay for the vital work they do."
Welsh Labour is calling for the creation of a dedicated negotiating body for school support staff, as promised in its Senedd Election manifesto.
In the Vale of Glamorgan alone, around 1,450 school support staff could benefit from the proposed changes.
Mr Skates was confirmed as Welsh Labour leader last month and is spending the summer touring Wales, emphasising his belief that it's important politicians "spend more time listening than talking."
