The event will offer free eclipse glasses, specially adapted solar binoculars, and telescopes to ensure safe viewing. This makes it the most significant solar eclipse the UK has seen since 1999, with no similarly impressive eclipse expected until 2090. During a partial eclipse, the reduced brightness can cause pupils to dilate, allowing more harmful ultraviolet light to reach the retina. Instead, people should use certified eclipse glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 safety standard or watch the event via an official livestream.
