Thames Valley Police confirmed the fatality on Thursday evening. The force said that at around 8.54am on Thursday, August 6, a crash occurred involving an HGV and a pedestrian on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway close to Membury Services. Earlier in the day, a spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “We are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on the M4. There are significant delays and growing tailbacks in the area, and traffic on the westbound carriageway may also be affected. A second crash took place shortly after on the M4 eastbound coming into Swindon, just before the A419 turn-off at around 10am.
