The Nag's Head on Russell Street is a CAMRA award winner and recently scooped 'best in the county' status on a ranking by the Telegraph newspaper last year.
In a jubilant statement shared on social media on August 3, the pub announced it has more good news.
In their statement shared online, the Nag's Head said the owners of the property wanted to sell it, and the pub was receiving monthly letters from a massive chain that wanted to buy it up.
Sensing that the pub was about to be put up for sale, the Nag's Head management "pleaded" for first dibs on the property in order to "keep the Nags legacy alive".
The Nag's Head said they have received plenty of congratulations over the past month, "but the truth is they shouldn't be for us, it is for all of us".
