Nan Shufang established its first location in Beijing’s Houhai area and takes its name from the “South Study,” or Nan Shufang, of the Forbidden City, a nod to its scholarly lineage. The Hong Kong store arrives as part of a wider footprint. Nan Shufang now runs cultural spaces across Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, a four-city network of seven stores that each interprets the scholar’s-study theme through object display, spatial design and cultural experience. Beyond the objects, Nan Shufang treats its stores as active cultural venues. In Hong Kong, positioned as a meeting point of Eastern and Western culture, the brand sees a new platform to connect these traditions with an international audience.
