Graeme Downie’s support lies with its finance spokesperson and MSP for the North East region, Michael Marra. Mr Downie said in a statement: “I’ve known Michael Marra for more than 15 years, and throughout that time he has consistently demonstrated the values, honesty and determination that Scottish Labour needs in its next leader. So far, Mr Marra has the most of his counterparts behind him with 18 elected representatives across Holyrood and Westminster on board. Mr Downie commented: “He recognises the huge potential for reindustrialising Scotland. Mr Downie has been joined in choosing Mr Marra by regional Mid Scotland and Fife MSPs Claire Baker and Joe Long.
