Funded through a Welsh Government capital grant, the improvements are part of a wider effort to enhance play opportunities for children, supporting Pembrokeshire’s Play Sufficiency Action Plan and benefiting communities throughout the county.
"By investing in play spaces, outdoor learning environments and community facilities, the programme has strengthened local play provision, supported the delivery of key Play Sufficiency actions and helped ensure that children and young people have access to high-quality opportunities for play, learning and development both now and into the future.”
Feedback from schools, families, and community groups has been 'overwhelmingly' positive, with many noting increased use of facilities, greater engagement from children, and improved opportunities for inclusive play.
The grant supports Pembrokeshire County Council’s commitment to meeting its responsibilities under the Play Sufficiency Assessment, aiming to improve the quality, accessibility, and inclusivity of play provision countywide.
By removing barriers to participation, the improvements ensure more children can enjoy safe and stimulating play spaces close to home.
