Why North West rail services are still disrupted after yesterday's outage
['Erin Gaskell']
The Westmorland Gazette | News
The disruption was caused by a failure in the electricity supply at a communications centre yesterday afternoon.
Although trains are now running, some services are still expected to be cancelled or altered this morning due to the impact of trains and crew being "in the wrong locations for the start of service."
Passengers are advised to check their journey in full before travelling.
National Rail said: "Trains across the Greater Manchester area and North West of England may still be cancelled in full or revised to only run for part of their normal journey until service is able to fully recover."
Northern are advising passengers to avoid travelling before 10am if possible, and delays are expected until midday.
