"I'm worried about people that are a lot further down the line that are in that situation and they're worrying about paying their council tax," she said. A spokesperson for Cumberland Council stressed that Council Tax support is available for residents on low incomes through a Council Tax Reduction Scheme, which can provide up to a 100 per cent reduction in Council Tax liability for eligible households. The council also has a range of discretionary powers in relation to Council Tax discounts, exemptions, and reductions.
