BRAINERD — “Stay another day” is written on the door of Caitlin Hamilton’s Baja car this year.
More by Theresa BourkeShe’s getting ready to race her old Chrysler in the Baja Race at the Crow Wing County Fair on Friday, Aug. 7.
Along with “stay another day,” her car bears the words “mental health matters” and the number 988, which is the suicide and crisis lifeline.
Hamilton’s initiative to spread the word about suicide prevention and mental health through her Baja car started last year, when she dedicated it to veteran suicide awareness in honor of her uncle, who lost his battle with mental health issues in 2021.
