Driver 'feared for his life'Following the conclusion of the criminal case, West Yorkshire Police launched misconduct proceedings. The hearing took place at the force's headquarters in Wakefield on July 30. Tedds said Howard had previously been "an effective and highly regarded officer who had contributed to policing across West Yorkshire". Concluding the hearing, Tedds said: "This is an officer who is generally kind, caring and supportive, and an effective officer, and that this incident was wholly out of character."
