Work on Thornton Road began on July 20 and is anticipated to last around 18 months, with the council saying the road will remain open wherever possible.
'Improving transport in this area'Councillor Andrew Judson, the council’s executive member for economy, regeneration, and planning, said: "Starting construction on the Thornton Road Improvements Project is another important milestone in improving transport in this area of the Bradford district.
It covers the stretch of Thornton Road between Spring Head Road and Girlington Road.
The scheme incorporates the West Bradford Cycle Superhighway Phase 2 and the Four Lane Ends Corridor Improvement Scheme, as well as broader improvements along Thornton Road.
"Once complete, the scheme will provide lasting benefits for the communities along Thornton Road for many years to come."
