EAU CLAIRE — The Duluth Huskies scored early but not again, leading to a 9-3 Northwoods League loss to the Eau Claire Express on Thursday night.
The Huskies got off to a powerful start, as Andrew Ermis, Jack Haferkamp and Finley Spicer all hit solo home runs in a four-batter span in the top of the second inning to make it 3-0 Huskies.
ADVERTISEMENTHowever, the Express scored five times in the third inning on two homers of their own, then added single runs in four of the next five innings to pull away.
Ermis finished 3-for-4 to lead the Huskies offense, while Isaiah Ibarra added two hits.
Duluth (12-21 second half) returns home for the final series of the season starting Friday night against Thunder Bay.
