The agreement represents a total commitment of £84,000 over the seven year term, with annual lease payments of £12,000, inclusive of business rates and utilities. Located in Fort Road, Littlehampton, the new site is close to Biffa’s current depot on Harwood Road which allows staff to walk between the two. A statement published with the decision describes the new yard as an "essential requirement" for the district, adding that it will facilitate storage and distribution of bins, to align with the council’s asset management strategy. The report said this location is ideal as it "saves on fuel costs and has a direct impact on sustainability values". The lease was approved under delegated powers by Arun District Council’s Head of Technical Services, Nat Slade.
