Pells Lake in Lewes has been the subject of growing concern in recent weeks as dwindling water levels have exposed litter and impacted wildlife. Residents have complained about the condition of the lake, describing it as "completely abandoned" and containing "years and years' worth of debris". But on Thursday, Lewes Town Council issued a direct appeal to residents not to participate. A spokesperson for the council told The Argus: "We are asking concerned residents not to go into the Pells Lake itself for a litter pick.
