ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man has been sentenced to 25 years to life on Friday morning after pleading guilty to shooting and killing a 39-year-old woman outside a vacant house. Dhymere Bailey pleaded guilty in June to second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the March 2025 shooting on Spencer Street off Lyell Avenue. Rochester Police said they arrived to find the victim, Sandra Blanding, dead on the sidewalk from a gunshot wound to her torso. Two days later, officers arrested and charged Bailey. After the deadly shooting, over 100 loved ones gathered for a memorial to honor Blanding, and her family spoke about her generosity and kindness.
