The former Bishop of Broome has elected not to give evidence in a District Court trial where he is facing allegations that he sexually abused three young Aboriginal men between 2008 and 2017. On Friday, however, seven of the 26 charges that Saunders has pleaded not guilty to were dropped. The defence and prosecution will close their cases on Monday before the jury is sent out to begin those deliberations.
