Mitie Power & Grid, in partnership with Revera Energy, is developing the Windyhill Battery Energy Storage Site (BESS) in Bearsden, just outside Glasgow.
Once operational in early 2028, the facility will be one of Scotland’s largest battery energy storage sites.
It will provide 200MW/400MWh of capacity, storing enough renewable electricity to power up to 55,000 homes for two hours.
Susan Murray, MP for Mid Dunbartonshire, said: "This battery energy storage system planned for Windyhill will allow Scotland to further reap the benefits of our renewable energy supply.
"We must continue to invest in infrastructure that supports a secure, cleaner and more reliable domestic energy supply for the UK."
