More than £1.5 million is being invested in track renewal, bridge improvements, and the removal of a redundant railway bridge as part of efforts to boost reliability and safety on key commuter routes. The work affects Glasgow services on lines between Glasgow Central, Newton, Neilston, and Cathcart Circle, with full line closures scheduled for the weekends of August 8 to 9, August 15 to 16, and August 22 to 23. The works include renewing rails through Cathcart station and at Langside, removing a redundant railway bridge on the Neilston line, and upgrading the Pollokshaws Road railway bridge. Passengers are being urged to check travel plans in advance and consider alternative rail and bus services during the disruption. In addition to the rail closures, temporary traffic lights will remain at the Nithsdale Street and Allison Street junction until September 19.
