ISLAMABAD – Weekly inflation in Pakistan edged up by 0.28%, with prices of 20 essential commodities increasing during the week, the data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) revealed on Friday. The latest figures showed that prices of nine items declined, while the prices of 22 essential commodities remained unchanged during the week. The figures indicate that while some essential items became cheaper, the increase in prices of a larger number of commodities pushed overall weekly inflation higher during the reported period. The latest increase comes amid continued fluctuations in the prices of essential food and household items across the country. The weekly inflation indicator tracks changes in the prices of a basket of essential commodities consumed by households.
