ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has approved a revised eSIM policy that reduces the maximum issuance fee and introduces free transfers between compatible devices. The updated framework is expected to come into force by the middle of August 2026. Under the new policy, Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) will be allowed to charge no more than Rs1,500 for the initial issuance of an eSIM. Subscribers will also be able to transfer their eSIMs between compatible handsets up to 10 times without paying additional charges. After consultations with cellular operators, the PTA finalized the revised charging structure and transfer policy.
