Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan have signed the Mecca Agreement on Joint Defense, which establishes a military alliance. The document was signed on August 7 at Al-Safa Palace in Mecca during a summit on joint defense issues. According to the document, an attack on any member of the alliance will be considered an attack on all members of the agreement. In addition, the document provides for expanded cooperation among the three states in all areas of defense,” the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement. One area of cooperation within the alliance could be the participation of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in the program to develop Türkiye’s fifth-generation KAAN fighter jet.
