The Kailashahar First Class Court, presided over by Judge Ranjabati Roy, on August 6 directed the officer-in-charge of Kailashahar police station to appear personally before the court on September 15 and submit a written explanation regarding the matter.
Welcoming the directive at a press conference in Kailashahar, Congress MLA Birajit Sinha said it demonstrated that the law applies equally to everyone.
The dispute relates to allegations concerning an affidavit submitted by Roy, then a BJP candidate, during the 2023 Tripura Assembly elections.
According to the Congress, Chandrashekhar Sinha submitted a written complaint to Kailashahar police on December 9, 2025, along with supporting documents.
The court’s intervention has intensified political attention on the case, with further developments expected after the police submit their explanation on September 15.
