Power outages are no longer limited to dimming homes, but have extended to affect the finest details of daily life.
Thirst in summer heatUm Muhammad, a displaced woman living in a tent west of Gaza City, says that what hurts her children most is not just hunger, but thirst under the summer heat.
She tells the PIC correspondent, “My children ask for cold water, and I find nothing to give them except water that is warm due to the heat of the weather.
Sometimes we put water bottles in the shade for hours hoping they will become less hot, but to no avail.”
Dr. Ahmad Al-Saadi, a general practitioner, points out that high temperatures combined with the absence of cooling means increase the likelihood of sunstroke and dehydration.
