CABOT, Vt. (WCAX) – Cabot High School will head into spring 2027 with just 23 students — a record low that has reignited debate over the school’s future, according to the chair of the Cabot School Board. Cabot High School’s enrollment stood at 55 in 2017, when the school’s future was last put to a vote, and fell to 40 by 2019. “Some students are very happy when they get to ninth grade to take advantage of regional high school choice. Thomas Brink, a Class of 2026 graduate, transferred to Cabot from Essex High School after his freshman year. “If we didn’t choose to close the high school directly is talking to our neighbors particularly Danville and possibly Twinfield and say ‘how would it look for us to join as a PreK-12 district but have a joint high school,’” he said.
