Somewhere along the line, I told him I was one of those goofy kids at that gathering in San Diego playing Family Feud — the Krukow Family versus the Pinder Family — and we’ve been joking about it ever since. You learn something from every Krukow broadcast, which is the basis of any outstanding announcer. One more, and here’s the biggie: Present the Willie Mac Award to Krukow. It would be a lovely farewell gift, full-circle accolades for the man, along with Duane Kuiper, who made so many people feel part of the Giants family. By the way, no, the Hall of Fame will not honor Krukow and Kuiper together as recipients of the Ford C. Frick Award.
