New 30mph speed limit introduced to support long-term roadworks

The restriction is in place on the A131 at Bournebridge Hill, Halstead, as part of developer works that have begun and are expected to continue until December 2026.
Work includes the creation of a right-turn lane, widening and realignment of the carriageway, new traffic islands, resurfacing of approximately 415 metres of road, and improvements to highway drainage.

Most of the work will use temporary traffic lights, with some overnight closures required later in the project.
A spokesman for Essex Highways said: "Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey."
