Oppah Muchinguri is facing the possibility of spending six months in jail after she wilfully defied a High Court order, where she was ordered to pay US$25 000 to a victim of brutal army shootings, as compensation for injuries sustained when soldiers fired bullets to suppress anti-government protests in August 2018. Now, Mutimutema, who is represented by Obey Shava of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, wants the High Court to declare Hon. Muchinguri wilfully disobeyed or neglected to comply with the High Court order and ignored several demands for the satisfaction of payment of his debt. Muchinguri’s failure to comply with a High Court order is not justified as it constitutes a wilful disobedience of a lawful order and her conduct is contemptuous and undermines the authority of the court. 103 Sam Nujoma Street, Harare, ZimbabwePhone: (+263 8677005347, +263 242 764085/705370/708118Email: info@zlhr.orgwww.zlhr.org.zwFacebook: Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights; X: @ZLHRLawyers; Instagram: ZLHR1996; LinkedIn: Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights; YouTube: Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights; TikTok: ZLHR96; ZLHR Chatbot: 00263 787 601 800
