By Brigett MiltonMONROVIA, August 7, 2026 – The General Auditing Commission (GAC) says it has completed and published 34 audit reports covering donor-funded development projects with annual disbursements estimated at approximately US$300 million, marking a significant step toward strengthening transparency, accountability, and oversight of public resources in Liberia. The audits cover key sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, energy, education, health, fisheries, water and sanitation, finance, commerce, and youth empowerment. Among the projects audited are the Liberia Investment, Finance and Trade Project (LIFT-P), the Renewable Energy for Electrification in Liberia (REEL) Project, the Liberia Renewable Energy Access Project (LIRENAP), the Mano River Union Road Development and Transport Facilitation Programme, the Fish Town–Harper Road Project, and the Liberia Urban Resilience Project. According to the Commission, only one donor-funded project audit remains outstanding. The audit, financed by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, is expected to be completed and published within the next two weeks.
