Army Schools Roll Back Sanskrit Move, Restore Punjabi TeachingStudents From Class 6 to 8 Can Now Choose Punjabi Alongside English and HindiThe teaching of the Punjabi language in Army Public Schools will continue as it did before.
As per a decision by the Army Welfare Education Society, Jalandhar, the earlier decision to implement Sanskrit in the schools has now been withdrawn.
In its place, students from Class 6 to Class 8 will once again be permitted to study Punjabi as their mother tongue, just as before.
For Class 9 students, the options will remain English, Hindi, and Sanskrit, while the arrangement for Class 10 will continue unchanged as before.
Punjab Chetna Manch had also written to the Chief Minister and Education Minister of Punjab, demanding that Punjabi be retained as a subject in schools.
