In this era of rebirth, another notable brand seeking a return to the world stage is Starka, made at Polish distillery SFW Starka, which was founded in 1863 in the city of Szczecin. Starka transcends several categories as an oak-aged rye spirit sitting somewhere between vodka, whisky and old-world herbal spirits. “Starka is more like a cat with nine lives,” explains David Lesperance, spokesperson for the distillery. Furthermore, Lesperance and his team have identified nine potential revenue streams to maintain the Starka brand history, quality and positioning. “The 10,000-plus visitors per year who previously visited the Starka site will most definitely increase if the Starka site is properly recommissioned and developed,” Lesperance adds.
